The Duck Pond On The Kinmount Estate

The Duck pond on The Kinmount Estate. originating in a 12th-century charter granted to the Carlyles by William de Brus. It was owned by the Douglas Family since 1733,the present Kinmount House was built in 1812 on the present site,(The previous house was on the site of the now cricket pitch)for John Douglas (the sixth Marquis) to replace the previous house — destroyed by fire at the turn of the 18th century, John’s descendant, the eighth Marquis of Queensberry, is best remembered for boxing’s ‘Queensberry Rules’,A later owner of the house was  the athlete, Steve Ovett,The current owners only own the house not the estate Kinmount estate,Annan The Duck pond on The Kinmount Estate. originating in a 12th-century charter granted to the Carlyles by William de Brus. Morton Castle

Morton castle was built by the Earls of March in 1375 after an earlier castle was destroyed. The Douglase family acquired it in 1459 whom became the Earls of Morton.
