In the 1960’s the Keswick family handed building over to the local Forestry Commission, who utilised it’s forest location to provide hostel accommodation for workers within the forest and nearby sawmill. It was not until the 1970’s that it first became a large guesthouse, offering bed and breakfast accommodation to tourists and visitors to Dumfries and Galloway.
